Apple now accepting iPad optimized app submissions
A couple of days ago, Apple sent an email out to developers signed up to the iPhone SDK development program that detailed the plans for iPad apps. Basically, developers can now submit their latest creations for review, and providing they’re sent before 5:00p.m. on Saturday the 27th of March, they’ll have a shot at being available on the App Store on launch day.
The paranormal world favors the Mac
Can you guess what technology such enthusiasts tend to use for their paranormal work? Yes, it’s the good ol’ Macintosh. Over at Paranormal Daily News, there’s an article on why the Mac is the superior platform when it comes to working with a high quantity of footage looking for those few ghostly seconds to share with the world. According to the article, it’s really nothing more than a MacBook and the iLife suite. Well, let’s face it; it’s all in there, really.
Gaming gets serious - Steam coming to Mac
On Monday, Valve announced that Steamand the Source enginewill be making their way to the Macintosh platform next month. It’ll take time to see the same amount of titles available for the PC, but there are some popular games planned for the initial launch. Portal 2 will be the first title out of the gates, with Half-Life 2, Left for Dead (1 & 2), Portal and Counter-Strike following closer behind in April.
First iPad ad hits screens during the Oscars [video]
If you were watching the Oscars last night, you may have caught sight of Apple’s brand new advertisement for the much awaited iPad. The ad itself races through (with shortened sequences, of course) several features of the device, making it seem irresistible to potential customers, and giving you the chance to “Meet iPad,” as the title suggests. Like many of you, I was already convinced I wanted to pick up an iPad on launch day, but if you weren’t sure, maybe seeing the advert changed your mind.
Relive the Olympic games on the iPhone and iPod touch
If you’ve been stuck at your desk non-stop for the past few weeks, you just missed the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Don’t worry, it wasn’t amazing; the hosts took top place, with America coming in third despite having the most medals in total. Either way, if you watched some of the events and felt the need to give them a try, you can play curling, snowboarding, hockey and ski jumping games 365 days a year.
Could the iPad bring “intelligent” notifications?
One of the biggest issues that consumers appear to have with the Apple iPad, is its lack of multi-tasking. Especially with this device being said to replace a netbook, and be the best web browsing and e-mail experience, only being able to do one task at a time really seems to limit your workflow. If the iPad is going to be a netbook replacement, and a decent productivity tool, surely it’ll need some way of allowing you to do more than one thing.

RealNetworks releases RealPlayer SP beta for Mac
RealNetworks has released the public beta for the latest upgrade to their RealPlayer software package for Macintosh, which allows you to download video and convert it for your device in just two clicks. Having used the software for a few days now, I can say that it really is as simple as they claim; just download and convert. The rest is handled by the software in its clean, updated interface.
Is the iPad what consumers are looking for?
It seems our enthusiasm for technology and, in particular, Apple products, isn’t shared by everyone. In a couple of surveys conducted by SoftwareAdvice and Retrevo.com around the launch of the Apple iPad, the results are a bit of a shock. One focuses on the healthcare sector, the other on the general consumer electronics market, and both indicate there’s not much interest in the iPad.
iPad games - utilizing the larger display
At the unveiling of the iPad, one of the many features mentioned was the ability to run almost every one of the 140,000 iPhone apps already available. If you chose to, you can view the app as normal or full-screen by doubling each pixel. But will an iPad optimized app look that much better? Judging from these images posted by Kevin Ng, the answer to that is a resounding “Yes.”
